Energy Club Market Report May/June

2024 has been a great year so far for the GMG Energy Club. We have saved Golf Clubs in excess of £1,000,000 since the turn of the year. Below are just a few of these examples of contractual savings!

St Andrews Golf Club saved £83,153.58 on their gas.

Haydock Park Golf Club saved £80,864.01 on their electricity.

Widnes Golf Club saved £27,692.81 on their energy.

How is the current market?

Many golf clubs have taken advantage of 2024’s lower wholesale energy prices. The below graph shows how electricity has fallen since Nov 22.

This has meant that many golf clubs are in a much better position with regards to their energy bills.

Take advantage before the market increases!

Many golf clubs are asking the question “when do we secure our new deal?”. Now as everyone knows, the energy market is ever changing and hard to predict. However, we study daily market curves and analyse future market prices to advise best practices for the golf club.

The below indicative market curve for electricity shows that the market is expected to increase for the rest of the year, and wholesale price next summer are expected to be higher. With prices expected to be on the rise, as they have been since March, we are recommending clubs to secure their new deals as soon as possible.

We are advising clubs to secure for a minimum of 2 years, this protects the clubs against a potential higher market over the next few years.

What to do next?

Does your energy contract end in the next 12 months? The GMG Energy Club are here to help. There are hundreds of energy tariffs available and many suppliers to choose from. A lot of these don’t include future non-commodity increases, such as TCR costs. At the Energy Club, we pride ourselves on being transparent about all costs, and only offer Fully Fixed tariffs, so there will be no shocks with rates going up during the contract period. If a club requires green or renewable sourced energy we have a wide range of suppliers now offering options. All we need is a recent energy invoice and we can do the rest.

How do I reduce my consumption?

The GMG Energy Club have multiple options to reducing your consumption and reliance on the grid. Whether it is a quick fix, such as boiler controls or LED/smart lighting, to larger projects such as solar, the GMG Energy Club can advise you on what is best. We are offering clubs FREE consultantion calls to discuss how we could help your club. If you would like one of these, please contact [email protected]. We will need a recent invoice to have an idea of the club’s consumption.
